MPI of Heavy Fabrication in Nottingham DPI Inspection Highway Structure Inspection

Site NDT inspection

We are an inspection company based in Burton on Trent, Staffordshire, in The Midlands. We provide non-destructive testing (NDT) at your site, for the following methods:

Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) MPI is used to detect surface breaking defects in magnetic materials. Very widely used in industry (probably the most commonly used surface inspection technique) as this method gives fast results on commonly used materials. We use battery powerered magnets (yokes) so can work anywhere, even remote locations.
Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI) DPI is more sensitive, though more time consuming than MPI and is also used to detect surface breaking defects. It's widely used on materials that aren't magnetic (stainless steel / aluminium etc.) or when higher sensitivity to indications is required. The surface finish needs to be smoother (highly polished) when using solvent removeable DPI, compared with MPI. However, if using water washable DPI, the surface finish can be very rough, such as a sand casting, and defects will be easily detected.
Visual Inspection (VT) Visual inspection is the most basic inspection method for surface defects. Typically used to detect gross defects which may be missed by the methods above, or visual inspection may find suspect indications and then a more sensitive method be used to confirm findings. All of our inspections begin with a visual inspection to find obvious defects.
Dimensional Inspection (QA) Dimensional inspection is used to confirm conformity to a drawing, that all features are in the correct locations and within the tolerances specified. Although not within the scope of NDT, some of our customers have chosen to have us perform this function along with NDT inspections.

If you're unsatisfied with your current NDT supplier, need to add capacity to your existing inspection department, or are requiring inspection for the first time, we'll happily give you a quotation for your needs, or give advice if you're unsure what you need.

Feel free to Call us and we'll be happy to see if we can help!

All NDT operators are qualified to PCN Level 2 (Castings, Forgings and Welds).
